How to Install HP Printer Software on Mac?

 

Since October of 2016, HP printer software’s are not provided by Apple Software Update. So, you have to visit the HP website to download the latest HP printer software for window or Mac. But, if your printer supports Apple Air Print, then there is no need to download any printer software for MAC or iOS

To install print driver in Mac OS or OS X 10.7 and later

Go to Apple menu, click System Preferences, then on click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners. Check if your printer is listed. Re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure that the correct driver is in use. Scroll down to Add Printer or Scanner and select the printer’s name to continue to the next step. If your printer is not listed, click on Add Printer or Scanner, then select the printer’s name and add it to the list.

Installing the driver in Mac OS X 10.6

Mac Snow Leopard print driver and software should be installed using Apple Software Update. Check support compatibility before installing the driver and check whether the printer driver is available for Mac OS X or not. If the printer is supported, go to the next step. In case when the printer is not supported, a third-party printer driver can be used.

Connection through USB cable

Connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer. The end which fits in the printer is square whereas the end that fits in the laptop is rectangular. Allow the software update to run automatically. As the Software Update window is displayed, follow the prompted instructions for driver installation and click next to add the printer to the list.

Connection through Wireless (Wi-Fi) network

Connect the Wi-Fi enabled printer to the network and allow Apple Software update to find and install the correct driver. Use the wireless setup wizard method if the printer has a touch or text navigation control panel. Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) for printers with a basic control panel (no screen, just buttons).

Touch enabled printers have a Wireless Setup Wizard in the wireless menu. Select the network and enter the password to connect the printer to the network.

Through using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

If printer has a basic control panel (no touch screen or text navigation), WPS can be used to connect the printer. Press and hold the wireless button  on the printer’s control panel. Leave when light starts to blink. Do the same with the wireless router. Let the router and the printer set up the connection.

Connection through Wired (Ethernet) network

Connect an Ethernet cable to the printer, computer, and the router. Connect the printer to your router or network hub with an Ethernet cable and add the printer to the list.

To create a new print queue, click the Apple menu and go to System Preferences. Select Print & Fax. If the printer’s name is displayed on the list of printers, check the functionality of the printer by printing and scanning as per availability.
